Lex is a quiet, patient companion for learning a language. Build a vocabulary at your own pace, drill with five exercise types when you feel like practicing, write essays on real prompts, and read short texts where every word is one tap away from a saved card. No streaks, no leaderboards, no notifications begging you to come back.

How it works

Pick the languages you're studying — Lex ships with starter packs for English, French, Spanish, Italian, and German (with 34 languages supported in total). Each language gets its own space: words, exercises, essays, reading. Add a few vocabulary entries yourself, or browse the curated library where every CEFR level (A1 → C2) has 100 hand-picked words and 10 reading texts. Practice when you want, in whichever exercise format suits the moment.

Five ways to practice

The same Leitner-style spaced repetition under the hood, five interfaces on top. **Reveal** for classic flashcards. **Match pairs** for quick rounds of six. **Fill blank** for context recall from your saved example sentences. **Multiple choice** when you want low-friction reps. **Type translation** when you want to be honest with yourself about whether you really know it.

Read with vocabulary in hand

Paste any text — an article, a song, an email — and Lex makes every word tappable. The ones already in your vocabulary appear underlined in yellow; the ones you add during the session light up in green. Track which texts you've read, filter by CEFR level, and export anything as PDF or Markdown when you want to keep it offline.

Built to be quiet

No streak counter to shame you on a bad week. No "you haven't practiced in three days" guilt notification. Add a word, write a paragraph, read a passage — or close the tab and come back next month. The patterns that emerge from regular practice are more valuable than any score, and the only person you're accountable to is yourself.
